Counsellor, Animal Assisted therapist

Jacqui is a caring, creative and empathetic counsellor who has worked in a range of clinical settings. These include primary and secondary schools, a nursing home, a large church, the community sector, and private practice. She has experience working with those who have struggled with the impact of chronic illness on mental health; grief and loss; trauma; family dynamics; anxiety and depression. Her current work is with children and adolescents, and she relies on a trauma informed approach to guide her practice and interventions.

In consultation with parents, Jacqui works to support young people to find their joy, resilience, and love of life. Sessions are structured around fun, creativity, and age-appropriate education, so children are engaged in the process. Working alongside Jacqui is Lucy the therapy dog, and soon the apprentice Tara will join the team!

She works especially in the areas of:

  • Child and adolescent counselling (5-19 years)
  • Creative modalities such as play and art therapy.
  • Somatic Experiencing
  • Animal Assisted Therapy
